Hi,
I have been very interested in activegaming for a few years and recently, our middle school was able to purchase 2 DDR sets, 2 WII's and 4 Gamebikes. I am commenting to make everyone aware that the Gamebikes are prone to breaking down and customer support is basically non-existant.
We bought the club model bikes @1,000 ea and were only using them for 6 weeks during the year. We have experienced a wide range of problems from the controllers sticking to the steering column malfunctioning. All four bikes have had the controllers replaced at least once. We sent our steering columns back to have them fixed last spring and have not seen them or heard from the company since. I'm very afraid that we won't ever be able to use the bikes again - it is unfortunate because they are very fun.
I would highly recommend DDR to anyone who wants to try out activegaming. The boys and girls in my classes all enjoy the activity and competition.
Hi Jeffrey,
First,I am glad you feel as if dance dance revolution has provided your students with positive experiences. The issue regarding your active gaming bikes...it is certainly frustrating to experience technological issues dealing with the active gaming equipment. Especially when there is a rather healthy price tag behind the purchase. Your comment is one I address in the active gaming tips section on the PE Central Website (http://www.pecentral.org/activegaming/AGtips.html)regarding service and duribility. Technology will have break downs but being aware of the service expectations as well as extended warranty opportunities is extremely important. Unfortunately in your situation it sounds as if the bikes were fairly new. I would certainly address the manufacturer (if not already) to make sure you are able to get the bikes up and running smoothly for your classes as soon as possible.
I need to say, as a whole lot as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt support however lose interest right after a whilst. Its as if you had a amazing grasp on the topic matter, but you forgot to include your readers.
